Bay County Sends 3 to Hospital, Yields DUI Charge

What investigators say was a Bay County alcohol involved accident sent 3 people to the hospital. The crash happened around 5:40 last night on Highway 231.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Mercedes going north on Highway 231 at a high speed when it tried to pass another car. It struck the left rear side of a Nissan,. Both vehicles lost control and the passenger of the Nissan was ejected from the car.

The car then caught fire. The female driver of the Meredes is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.

All 3 involved have been hospitalized.

A 1st time Bay County DUI conviction without any secondary charges can yield the following penalites:

  • $1,000 in fines.
  • 50 hours of community service.
  • Vehicle impounding for up to 10 days.
  • Up to 6 months in jail.

Any additional charges, like the above suspect with a reckless driving charge, can increase the penalties.
