Ocala Man Arrested for DUI With Child in Car

Posted in Marion County DUI by admin

An Ocala man arrested Sunday night and charged with DUI had his 12-year-old son in the car.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy stopped the suspect’s silver Honda in the 9100 block of Maricamp Road for driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone and cutting through traffic.

The deputy reported that Siple smelled of alcohol. He told the deputy he had two pitchers of beer.

He also was charged with child neglect.

With a child in the car penalties one stands to face nearly double when it comes to jail time and monetary fines. Disregarding the child neglect charge, the suspect could go to jail for a maximum of 1 year and pay up to $2,000 in fines if he is convicted. However, we don’t know the whole story and the constitution may grant this man a not guilty verdict, it all comes down to the details of the stop.
