ORANGE PARK – A DUI checkpoint on Wells Road led to 19 people being arrested Saturday, March 20.
More than 360 vehicles were stopped in the 1700 block of Wells Road during the checkpoint, which also produced 12 moving violations, 20 criminal citations and 62 written warnings, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
Among those arrested was the driver of a vehicle that entered the checkpoint but then fled. A Florida Highway Patrol officer stopped the vehicle and the driver was arrested for DUI, fleeing and eluding and driving while license suspended or revoked, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Charges from the other arrests included DUI, being a habitual driving offender, illegally carrying a concealed weapon, illegal narcotics and three warrants, the Sheriff’s Office said.
